Techiya Loewen

Family Peer Support Worker, Advisory Board Member

Techiya Loewen is a Family Peer Support Worker and has been involved with eating disorders for 10 years.  Initially, Techiya walked with her daughter Rachel as she battled AN.  In 2015, once Rachel was on a solid road to recovery, Techiya and Rachel collaborated with McMaster Children's Hospital's Eating Disorder Unit to host an information evening for parents with children being treated at Mac.  An outcome of the evening is a monthly peer lead support group held in Hamilton. Techiya has written a blog for NEDIC and presented at NIED's 2018 Honouring the Journey.

Techiya offers one on one family peer support and works with parents as they advocate for their children.  When she is not wrapped up peer support, Techiya is an Office Manager for a Family Health Team in the County of Brant where she advocates for increasing mental health supports for patients and staff.
